About Barrenjoey Artwalk

Where art, community, and coastal living come together in the heart of Avalon Village

For two weeks each summer, our vibrant beachside village transforms into a living art gallery.

Local retailers host stunning works by Australian artists in their shop windows, creating a free, self-guided art experience that's accessible to everyone. Simply follow the yellow dots and discover incredible art as you explore Avalon's cafes, boutiques, and beaches.

Our Story

The Artwalk concept was created by art-loving parents at Mosman High School during Covid to support their local village, economy, and artists. The initiative was so successful that it's now in its fifth year, and with their generous permission, we brought this wonderful concept to Avalon in 2024.

Organised entirely by parent volunteers of the Barrenjoey High School P&C, our Artwalk serves the same core purpose: supporting the community in which our school thrives. We're helping local retailers and businesses, showcasing talented artists, and raising vital funds for our government school - all while creating something beautiful for everyone to enjoy.

Whether you're an art enthusiast, a casual browser, or simply looking for a lovely summer outing, the Barrenjoey Artwalk offers something special. Explore at your own pace, fall in love with original artwork, and be part of a community celebration that makes a real difference.

The Barrenjoey Artwalk brings retailers, professional artists and the Barrenjoey High School P&C together to transform Avalon Village into a living art gallery for two weeks. It's a win-win-win: we're elevating artists, driving foot traffic for retailers and raising funds for our local high school. And the Year 12 HSC Works Exhibition, the vivid heart of the Artwalk, is a must see.

The Barrenjoey Artwalk strengthens our community engagement, which is a key component of our school vision, whilst providing an opportunity for the students of Barrenjoey High School to proudly display their artistic flair.

By benefiting from a portion of the sales, Barrenjoey High School is not only raising essential funds but also solidifying its role as an integral part of the community.

It's a win-win for everyone—our artists, our businesses, and most importantly, our students. We encourage everyone to come out, explore, and support this great community event.
